C30 Microphone Failure
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a complete failure of the hands-free microphone system in a 2009 Volvo C30, which has rendered telephony impossible. The issue is suspected to be related to the infotainment system, as fuses were checked and found to be in order, and the Bluetooth connection was stable prior to the failure. A workshop diagnosis confirmed a defective infotainment system, leading to a repair.

I did check the fuses, and all appear to be in order. The Bluetooth connection has been rock solid up until this microphone issue. Could a software glitch within the infotainment system be the culprit, perhaps needing a system reset?

Given that the fuses are fine and the Bluetooth connection was stable before, a software issue is less likely, though still possible. If the hardware itself is broken it would also render it useless. Diagnosing microphone problems is tricky without the proper tools. It's best to consult with a workshop.

A trip to the workshop was unavoidable. The diagnosis confirmed a defective infotainment system, resulting in a repair cost of 815€.

A complete microphone failure in the C30 is unusual. It sounds like a deeper problem than a simple setting. Have you checked the fuse box? Also, has the Bluetooth connection been stable?
