C30 Parking Aid Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Volvo C30 is experiencing a parking aid failure, with the system displaying an error and not functioning. The issue may be due to faulty wiring or plug connections to the ultrasonic sensors. Cleaning the sensors did not resolve the problem. It is recommended to have a professional technician diagnose and repair the issue, as it may involve checking the continuity of the wires, which requires specific tools and expertise.

Continuity? Uh, no, I don't have any special tools. Is that something I can easily test myself, or am I risking making things worse? Where even are the connections? I'm not super handy with cars, to be honest.

Given your stated level of expertise, attempting to diagnose and repair the cable and plug connections for the parking aid sensors may lead to further complications. Although a faulty wire is the most likely cause, an electronics technician should ideally make the assessment. I suggest a qualified workshop. The eventual repair cost should be in the region of 95€.

Thanks so much for the info and advice! It sounds like I'm in over my head on this one. I'll book it in at a garage. At least now I have a bit more of an idea of what the problem probably is and roughly how much it should cost!

The parking assistant system on your Volvo C30 relies on proximity sensors, sometimes called obstacle detection sensors, to function correctly. Have you checked the wiring and plug connections to these sensors? A defective cable or plug connection is often the culprit when there's a parking aid fault and the error memory is triggered. Do you possess the tools and diagnostic equipment to test the continuity of the wires?
