C4 Electric Parking Brake Failure

My 2021 Citroen C4 electric has only 165764 km and the electronic parking brake has failed. Dashboard warning light is on and the error memory has logged the fault. It’s essentially an electronic handbrake without function. Anyone else experienced something similar? I suspect it could be the electric motor in the brake caliper. It's annoying and frightening given the safety implications.

I understand your frustration. I had a similar issue with my C4. From the symptoms you describe - the warning light and the error message - it does sound like the electric motor in the brake caliper is a likely culprit. Have you checked the brake sensor connections for any obvious damage or corrosion? In my case, the connections looked fine, but the motor itself was defective.

Thanks! I appreciate the suggestion about checking the connections. I will certainly have a look, but I'm not confident in diagnosing the root cause myself. What was the error code you encountered, and did it specifically point to the motor, or was it something more ambiguous? I'm trying to avoid unnecessary expenses and be as informed as possible when I take it to a workshop.

You're right to be cautious about unnecessary expenses. I understand your concern about diagnosing the fault yourself. In my case, the error code was specific to the brake caliper motor. Considering your symptoms and mileage, I recommend getting it professionally diagnosed. While I always encourage some DIY, braking systems are better left to experts. Sadly, the repair ended up costing me 505€.

Thank you so much for your insights and for sharing your experience! It seems a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. I'll post the final diagnosis and repair outcome once everything is sorted. Hopefully, it won't be as expensive, but at least I'm prepared for the worst. I appreciate your help!
