C4 Tire Pressure Warning

My 2017 Citroen C4 diesel is showing a tire pressure warning. It's done 168315 km. The display says "Tire pressure too low", and the mechanic found an error stored. I've checked the tire inflation myself, and they're spot on. Could it be a sensor fault?

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Citroen C4 diesel displayed a tire pressure warning despite the tires being correctly inflated. The issue was suspected to be related to the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors, likely due to depleted sensor batteries, given the vehicle's age and mileage. It was recommended to replace the sensors, as testing battery life requires specialized equipment and can be costly. After replacing all four sensors, the warning was resolved.

The symptoms suggest a TPMS issue. Have you considered the age of the sensors? The batteries typically last 5-7 years. Given the age of your vehicle, it's plausible that one or more sensor batteries are nearing depletion. Are all four tires reporting issues, or is it isolated to a specific wheel?

That's interesting about the sensor batteries! I didn't even think of that. Is there a way to test the battery life of the sensors, or is it just a case of replacing them to see if it fixes the problem? It seems to be happening with all tires, not just one.

Given that the issue affects all tires and your manual pressure checks are accurate, a failing sensor battery is the likely culprit. Testing the battery life often requires specialized diagnostic equipment. Considering the potential cost of such a test and the age of the sensors, it would be most economical to visit a workshop and have them replaced. This resolves the issue in most cases. The TPMS will then have to be re-initialized.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. They replaced all four tire pressure sensors, and the error is gone. Cost me about 280€, but at least it's sorted. Really appreciate the help!
