C5 Multifunction Steering Wheel Fault

Hi, I'm having an issue with my 2008 Citroen C5 diesel. The multifunction steering wheel has stopped working. The error memory shows a fault, and I can no longer control anything from the steering wheel. I suspect it's an electrical fault, possibly a defective cable connection inside the steering wheel itself. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

I had something similar happen on my C5. The Lexia threw up a hissy fit about the COM2000 unit. Have you checked the slip ring? It's often the culprit for steering control malfunctions. Is the malfunction indicator lamp illuminated?

Thanks for the tip. The slip ring sounds plausible. Is it a straightforward replacement, or does it require recalibration afterwards? What exactly were the symptoms you experienced with your C5?

The symptoms were identical: no steering wheel controls. I wouldn't touch it myself unless you really know your way around electrics. Airbag removal is involved. Best bet is to have a workshop look at it to diagnose and replace the COM2000 unit. I did, and that solved it.

Thanks for the info. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. The cable connection inside the steering wheel was indeed defective. Repair cost was 95€. All sorted now!
