C5 NOx Catalyst Aging

My 2010 Citroen C5 with a gasoline engine is throwing a fit. The check engine light's on, and the error memory's screaming about the NOx storage catalyst aging. I'm pretty sure I can smell exhaust fumes more than usual. Mileage is at 241554 km. I think it's likely a leak somewhere in the exhaust system messing with the catalyst's efficiency. Anyone else wrestled with this?

That does sound like a possible exhaust leak impacting the NOx catalyst. Have you visually inspected the exhaust system for any obvious signs of damage or corrosion? Has there been any noticeable decrease in fuel efficiency?

Good point about the fuel efficiency! It feels like I'm filling up more often. I've had a quick peek, but nothing jumped out at me immediately. I'll get under it again this weekend for a more thorough look. What specific areas should I be focusing on when I get it up on ramps?

Given the error code and the potential exhaust leak, it is highly advisable to have the vehicle inspected by a qualified workshop. Delaying the repair could lead to further damage or failure of other emission control components.

Took it to a shop. Turns out it WAS a small crack in the exhaust manifold, right near the catalyst. They welded it up, cleared the code, and I'm back in business. Grand total was 265€, which isn't terrible. Appreciate the help!
