Thanks for the quick reply! It idles a little rough, yes. How would I check the timing chain? And is there any way to test the crankshaft sensor to be totally sure it's the culprit before replacing it?

Given the rough idling and the error code, it's highly likely the crankshaft sensor. Testing it properly usually requires specialized equipment. Checking the timing chain’s condition can be tricky without dismantling things. Honestly, with those symptoms and error, I'd advise taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnostic check. They can confirm the sensor and check the timing more thoroughly.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – it was the crankshaft sensor. The repair cost me 340€, but the car is running perfectly again. Appreciate the help!

That sounds tricky! Is the engine idling roughly, or are you experiencing any misfires? When was the last time the timing chain was inspected? A faulty crankshaft sensor can definitely cause those symptoms, but it's worth ruling out other potential issues.
