C6 Jerking Hissing Engine Light

I'm experiencing issues with my 2011 Citroen C6 diesel (140133 km). The check engine light keeps popping up, and the car jerks noticeably when accelerating. I've also noticed a whistling noise during acceleration. Sometimes, the engine even stalls when idling, and my fuel consumption seems to have increased. The engine feels like it's lost some power. Could this be related to a faulty turbocharger? I've read that a defective cable or plug connection of the boost pressure sensor might be the cause. Any thoughts or similar experiences?

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a 2011 Citroen C6 experiencing jerking during acceleration, a hissing noise, an illuminated check engine light, increased fuel consumption, and occasional stalling. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the turbocharger or a defective boost pressure sensor. The recommendation is to have the vehicle inspected by a professional workshop to diagnose and address the problem, which in this case, involved replacing the faulty boost pressure sensor.

That sounds suspiciously like what happened with my C6. Does it feel like you're driving through treacle? I had similar symptoms – the jerking, the hissing, the engine light... Was thinking it might be a boost leak somewhere. Did you check the boost pressure sensor?

Yes, it definitely feels like driving through treacle! It's incredibly sluggish. I haven't checked the boost pressure sensor directly yet, but I suspect it might be the culprit, especially with the hissing sound. Where exactly should I be looking for the sensor and its cable/plug? Any tips on how to check it without special tools?

Honestly, I wouldn't poke around too much without proper knowledge. I tried and nearly made things worse. If you suspect the boost pressure sensor, and you're getting all those symptoms, I'd seriously consider taking it to a workshop. Could save you a lot of headaches. They can diagnose it properly and replace the sensor if needed. In my case, it solved all my problems!

I appreciate the advice! I think you're right; I'll take it to a trusted workshop to get it checked out. It's probably better to be safe than sorry. They found that the boost pressure sensor was defective. They charged 95€ including replacing the sensor and labor. Thanks again for sharing your experience!
