C70 ABS Lateral Acceleration Sensor Fault

I'm having an intermittent fault with the lateral acceleration sensor on my 2000 Volvo C70 with a gasoline engine. The ABS lamp illuminates, and diagnostic scans confirm an error pointing to the sensor. The control unit may be defective. Anyone seen this?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something REALLY similar happen with my C70, though I can't remember the exact year. My ABS light was going crazy and I could feel the traction control kicking in at random times, like the car was fighting me. The stability control felt totally off. Was yours doing something similar?

Indeed, that mirrors the behavior I am observing. Specifically, when you mention 'stability control felt totally off', could you elaborate on what you mean?

Okay, imagine you're driving straight, and the car thinks you're drifting or something. It felt like the brakes were pulsing on one side randomly, trying to correct a slide that wasn't there. Ultimately, I took it to a workshop. They told me it was the lateral acceleration sensor causing all the mayhem. Cost about 1000€ to fix, if I recall. Probably best to get yours checked out by a professional, man.

I appreciate you confirming the issue and highlighting the potential cause. Based on this, I will proceed with a consultation at a specialized workshop. The diagnostic scan and subsequent sensor replacement rectified the issue as you suggested. The repair cost did, in fact, amount to approximately 1000€.
