C70 Control Unit Communication Error
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Volvo C70 is experiencing a control unit communication error, leading to engine overheating, a check engine light, and coolant leakage due to excessive pressure. The problem may be caused by a faulty cable or plug, possibly related to a CAN bus communication fault. Thanks for the insight. Are there specific areas of the wiring harness and connectors that are more prone to failure? Knowing where to look would help.

My issue was a corroded connector near the engine control unit disrupting the signal. Given your symptoms and the Volvo's age, I'd advise a workshop diagnostic check. It could be a software glitch, but a physical inspection is crucial. That's what I did. I paid 95€ and they found the problem.

I appreciate the advice. I'll schedule a diagnostic check at a workshop to inspect the wiring and connectors. Thanks for your help.

I had a similar issue with my 2014 Opel Insignia. Your symptoms sound like a potential CAN bus communication fault. Have you checked the wiring harness and connectors for corrosion or damage? A faulty connection can definitely cause that.
