C70 electric seat problem

My 2004 Volvo C70 with a gasoline engine has an error with the passenger electric seat. Adjustment isn't possible, and there's an error stored. I checked fuses and wiring, but found nothing obvious. Could it be a bigger electrical issue? The car has 76897 km on it.

I had a similar problem in my C70. Check your battery's state of charge. A heavily discharged or defective battery can cause spurious electrical issues with the seat control module because it does not have enough power to adjust the seat properly.

Thanks for the advice. Can you elaborate on the connection between a weak battery and the seat adjustment? I'm trying to understand the root cause. Can I check it at home without specialized equipment?

A weak battery can cause low voltage to the seat control module, leading to malfunctions. The module might interpret the low voltage as an error, preventing seat adjustment. I would suggest a workshop to verify that. They will check all car electronics to provide a more accurate diagnostic.

I had the car examined by a technician, and the battery was indeed the problem. Replacement and diagnostic cost 290€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It would have cost a lot more had I gone straight for a seat switch replacement.
