C70 Exhaust Temperature Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Volvo C70 diesel is experiencing intermittent check engine light activation, reduced engine power, and increased fuel consumption. The issue is suspected to be related to a faulty exhaust temperature sensor, possibly triggered by an exhaust system leak. A scan confirmed the sensor fault, and further inspection revealed a small leak in the exhaust manifold. Replacing the gasket and sensor resolved the problem.

Thanks for the swift reply! I did run a scan, and it flagged the exhaust temperature sensor as potentially faulty. However, I'm wondering if it's just a symptom of a larger issue, like the leak you mentioned. Did your Peugeot throw any specific codes related to the catalytic converter or any other sensors beforehand?

Ah, yes, the codes! Mine initially threw a generic 'emission control' fault. It's like diagnosing a house fire by only seeing the smoke. It could be the sensor itself, but given the other symptoms, I'd advise having a workshop take a closer look at the entire exhaust system. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks for the advice, that's pretty much what I suspected. I've booked it in with a local garage. Turns out there was a small leak in the exhaust manifold, which was causing the temperature sensor to read incorrectly. New gasket and sensor later and it’s all fixed, cost me 265€. Appreciate the help!

That sounds eerily familiar! I had a similar experience with my old Peugeot 308. Check engine light, power loss, the whole shebang. In my case, it was the catalytic converter acting up. It's like a domino effect - one problem triggers another. Have you scanned for error codes?
