C70 fuel pump connector issue

Having trouble with my 2000 Volvo C70 (gasoline engine). It's got about 137k km on it. Lately, it's been acting up – won't start sometimes, stalls at idle, and the check engine light is on. It's also running rough and seems to be guzzling more fuel than usual. I pulled the codes, and it seems fuel pump related. I've checked the obvious stuff like fuses, but could it be a bad connector or wiring issue causing this?

Summary of the thread

The 2000 Volvo C70 was experiencing starting issues, stalling at idle, rough running, and increased fuel consumption, with a check engine light indicating a fuel pump problem. The likely cause was identified as a faulty fuel pump connector, which can become corroded or loose over time. After confirming the issue, the garage repaired the damaged connector and cable, resolving the problem and restoring the car's performance.

Dude, I had almost the exact same thing happen with my C70! Seriously annoying. Stalling, rough running, the works. I bet you anything it IS the fuel pump. The mechanic mentioned something about a dodgy connection being a common culprit. Is your carby misfiring?

Misfiring is possible, hard to tell with all the other symptoms. You mentioned a dodgy connection – was that the fuel pump connector itself? Where should I be looking for this issue? Anything else to consider before I drop the tank?

Yeah, I'm not super mechanically inclined, but from what I remember, the mechanic said it was a known issue with the connector to the fuel pump. Like, it gets corroded or loose over time. Honestly, I'd just take it to a good workshop, even if it's just for them to check the fuel pump connector, as I did. They'll know exactly what to look for. It may be just a connection problem, or something more serious. No need to replace the fuel pump yourself for nothing!

Thanks for the insight! Sounds like the connector is the most probable cause. The garage confirmed that the connector and the corresponding cable were indeed damaged. They repaired it for a reasonable 95€, and now everything runs smoothly again! I really appreciate the help!
