C70 Headlight Washer Failure

My 2008 Volvo C70, gasoline engine, with 55007 km has a curious fault. The headlight and windshield washer systems have stopped working. I've checked the fuse, which seems fine, and I suspect a cable connection to the pump or a defective relay. Has anyone experienced similar?

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 307, though it was just the windscreen washers not working. Have you checked for blockages in the washer fluid lines? Could be a clog. Did you actually hear the pump working? Mine sounded like it was trying, but nothing was coming out.

Good shout on the blockage. I'll check the hoses, though I would've expected at least some output. As for the pump sound, no, nothing at all. Total silence when I engage either washer. Where was the pump located on your Peugeot? Might give me a clue where to start on the C70.

On the Peugeot, the pump was right next to the washer fluid reservoir, easily accessible. Since you're getting no sound and the fuse is good, and you've checked for blockages... honestly, it might be worth taking it to a workshop. Could be a deeper electrical issue. Best to have someone with the right diagnostic tools have a look.

Cheers. I took it to my local shop. Turns out the cable connection to the pump was defective, just as I suspected, but I couldn't easily get to it. Repair cost me 165€. All sorted now!
