C70 immobilizer issue

My 2013 Volvo C70 diesel is having immobilizer issues. Engine won't start, or starts briefly then dies. Error code is stored. Suspect key programming. Any ideas?

A 2013 Volvo C70 diesel is experiencing immobilizer issues, where the engine either won't start or starts briefly before dying, with an error code stored. The problem is suspected to be related to key programming. After trying a spare key and observing normal security light behavior, it was confirmed by a workshop that the issue was indeed a key programming fault, which was resolved for 45€.

I had a similar problem with my C70. Does the security light blink or stay on? Could be a key signal problem. Have you tried your spare key?

Security light is behaving normally. I tried the spare key; same issue. Could it really be the key programming?

In my case, the key programming was indeed the problem. It's worth having it checked out at a workshop. They can read the key and car's computer to confirm. Better than chasing other potential issues.
