C70 Multifunction Steering Wheel Failure
Summary of the thread
The multifunction steering wheel of a 2006 Volvo C70 diesel stopped working, with none of the buttons responding and an error stored in the system memory. A possible cause identified was a faulty cable connection within the steering wheel. The suggested solution was to have the cable connection checked and potentially replaced by a professional, which resolved the issue and restored functionality.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the cable connection yet, mainly because I'm a bit wary of messing around with the steering wheel. By 'malfunction indicator,' do you mean the general engine warning light, or something more specific related to the steering?

Yes, I meant a specific warning light for the steering or related systems. Since you're hesitant to check the cable yourself, it might be best to take it to a workshop. In my case, the cable connection was indeed the issue. Cost me around 95€ to fix. Better safe than sorry with steering systems, wouldn't you agree?

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was a defective cable connection in the steering wheel. They replaced it, cleared the error, and everything's working perfectly again. The final bill came to 95€, just like you said. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar problem with my C70. Steering wheel controls just died. Did you check the cable connection in the steering wheel? Sometimes those can become faulty. Was the malfunction indicator active in your case, or were other symptoms present?
