C70 Stiff Steering Vibration

I'm having steering issues with my 2002 Volvo C70 with a gasoline engine. It requires more effort to steer, like the power steering is weak. The steering wheel also vibrates noticeably. The car has 104094 km on it. Could this be a defective steering angle sensor?

Those symptoms definitely suggest a possible issue with the steering angle sensor, given the effort and vibrations. Has the car had any recent wheel alignment adjustments? Any unusual noises from the steering column?

No recent wheel alignment. I haven't noticed any noises from the steering column. Could faulty coding of the steering angle sensor cause these symptoms? Would that affect the traction control system?

Faulty coding of the steering angle sensor is plausible, especially with the connection between the sensor, power steering, and traction control. Without specialized tools, I'd recommend a qualified workshop for assessment and recalibration.

I took it to a workshop as you suggested. They confirmed a defective steering angle sensor due to faulty coding. Recalibration fixed it. Total cost was 195€.
