C70 Uneven Engine Running

Hi, I have a 2010 Volvo C70 with a gasoline engine and 204854 km. I'm experiencing an uneven engine running. The check engine light is on, and there's an error stored. It also feels like the car is jerking when accelerating. Could this be related to a leak in the exhaust system?

Summary of the thread

A 2010 Volvo C70 is experiencing uneven engine running, with the check engine light on and jerking during acceleration. The issue is suspected to be related to a leak in the exhaust system. A faulty oxygen sensor, potentially affected by the exhaust leak, is identified as a likely cause. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic, who confirmed the exhaust leak and replaced the damaged oxygen sensor, resolving the problem.

Hello, I had a similar issue with my Volvo C70 some time ago. I know that it's the same generation. Do you happen to know the error code? I had similar symptoms, and it turned out to be a faulty oxygen sensor messing with the fuel mixture. It's like the engine wasn't breathing properly.

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't have the exact error code right now, but the mechanic mentioned something about the exhaust system. Could a bad ignition coil, fuel pump, or crankshaft sensor cause similar symptoms? What did the repair ended up costing you?

While ignition coils, fuel pumps, or crankshaft sensors could potentially cause similar issues, my case was definitely the oxygen sensor. My mechanic told me that if the leak is near the sensor, it could also report incorrect measures. Given that you suspect an exhaust leak, I would definitely recommend taking it to a workshop to properly diagnose the issue. If it turns out to be the oxygen sensor, it's a relatively simple fix. Mine was roughly around 250€.

Thank you for your help! I've taken it to the mechanic and as you guessed, it was indeed a leak in the exhaust system. Since the exhaust system leak damaged the oxygen sensor, both where replaced. The whole repair ended up costing me 265€. I appreciate your insights!
