C8 Oxygen Sensor Issue

I have a 2012 Citroen C8 diesel with 30,626 km. I'm seeing check engine light, an error stored, and higher fuel consumption, pointing to the O2 sensor. I'm checking the wiring now, but has anyone else had O2 sensor issues?

Okay, so I am no expert, but I remember the mechanic showing me the old sensor. The plug looked kinda corroded and the cable was frayed. Honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. They can test it properly.

Your experience helped a lot. It was indeed a defective cable and plug connection to the oxygen sensor. Replaced the sensor for 95€, and the symptoms are gone. Thanks for the help.
