Cadillac XT6 Key Fob Fails: Quick Battery Fix Guide
Summary of the thread
The 2019 Cadillac XT6 keyless entry system was experiencing issues due to a weak key fob battery, leading to unreliable remote functions and error messages. The problem was identified as a low battery, which is a common cause of such symptoms. A simple battery replacement with a CR2032 battery resolved the issues, restoring all key functions and eliminating error messages. If the problem persists after a battery change, potential underlying issues could include a faulty key fob circuit board or car antenna, but these are less likely given the symptoms and mileage.

Thanks for sharing those details about the battery fix. Good to know it was such a simple solution. I had nearly identical problems with my XT6 electronic key system last month. Quick battery swap sorted most issues but I noticed the trunk release button still acts up sometimes. Did you remember what the battery replacement cost was at your shop? Also curious if youve had any other electronic key troubles since the fix?

After getting the key fob battery replaced at the shop for 37€, my Cadillac XT6 has been working flawlessly. The low battery warning messages completely disappeared and all electronic key functions are back to normal. The trunk release button works perfectly now too, sounds like you might want to have yours checked if its still acting up. The car key system hasnt given me any trouble since the battery replacement 6 months ago. A properly working key fob makes such a difference, no more standing close to the car waiting for it to recognize the signal or getting those annoying warning messages on the dash. Just watch out for any early warning signs of key battery issues in the future. The electronic key system usually starts showing symptoms well before complete failure, so its good to address it early.

Thanks everyone, wanted to update on my situation. After checking your suggestions, I took my XT6 to a different repair shop. The mechanic confirmed it was indeed just a dead key battery causing all those electronic key problems. They charged 45€ for a new battery and installation, which seemed reasonable. After the battery replacement, all the key functions started working perfectly again, no more error messages or struggles with the low voltage issues. The auto key system now responds instantly when I approach the car. Even the trunk release button that was giving me trouble works smoothly now. Much better experience with this shop compared to my previous mechanic visits. They diagnosed and fixed the problem in under 30 minutes. Really glad it turned out to be such a simple fix rather than a major system problem.

Had the same issue with my 2016 Cadillac XT5. The symptoms started exactly like yours, inconsistent fob operation and warning messages. Initially thought it was a complex electrical problem, but it turned out to be just low voltage in the key fob battery. The auto key system gives these warnings well before complete failure. When the fob battery gets low, the first signs are usually reduced remote operating range and intermittent functionality. Fixed it with a basic fob battery replacement using a CR2032 battery. The whole process took about 5 minutes. Important to note that if you wait too long and the fob battery dies completely, you might need to use the physical key hidden inside the fob to enter the car. If replacing the battery doesnt solve the issue, there could be more serious problems like: Faulty key fob circuit board, Damaged antenna in the car, Issues with the cars main computer But based on your symptoms and mileage, a simple battery replacement should resolve everything. The keyless entry system in these models is generally very reliable.
