Camaro crankcase ventilation issue

Got a head-scratcher with my 2013 Chevrolet Camaro, gasoline engine. Check engine light is on, performance is down, and I'm seeing smoke when I accelerate. After pulling codes, it seems like the crankcase ventilation valve might be the culprit. Anyone else run into this? Mileage is sitting at 174932 km. Trying to get a handle on this before I take it in.

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Chevrolet Camaro is experiencing performance issues, a check engine light, and smoke during acceleration, potentially due to a crankcase ventilation valve problem. The symptoms suggest a possible leak in the ventilation system, possibly involving the PCV valve or hoses. It is recommended to inspect these components for cracks or damage, but ultimately, taking the car to a shop for a professional diagnosis and repair is advised.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my Camaro a while back. Not sure of the year, but those symptoms sound familiar. Reduced power and the smoke makes me think you might have a leak somewhere in the ventilation system. Have you checked for any obvious cracks or damage to the PCV valve and hoses?

Thanks for the insight. When you say leak, where exactly should I be looking? Is there a particular hose or area that's more prone to failure? I'm trying to give everything a thorough once-over before throwing parts at it, or worse, handing it over to a mechanic without some idea of what's going on.

Honestly, I couldn't pinpoint the exact location myself. I messed around with it for a bit, but eventually took it to my shop. They found a cracked valve and some deteriorated hoses. Since the ventilation system is critical, my advice would be to take it to a shop. Cost me around 360€ for the repair, but at least the problem was fixed.

Appreciate the info, sounds like a trip to the shop is in order. Knowing it's likely the PCV valve and hoses gives me a bit of an edge going in. Thanks again for sharing your experience; hopefully, the repair won't break the bank.
