Camaro mirror heating defective

Experiencing an issue with my 2002 Chevrolet Camaro, gasoline engine, with only 36169 km. The mirror heating is defective, showing no function at all. Furthermore, an error is stored in the error memory. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2002 Chevrolet Camaro is experiencing defective mirror heating, with both mirrors non-functional and an error stored in the error memory. The suspected causes include a defective cable or plug connection, as both mirrors are affected, suggesting a shared power supply issue. Suggested solutions include checking the fuses, using a multimeter to test voltage at the mirror connectors, or taking the car to a workshop for professional diagnosis and repair.

Hey there! Mirror heating issues are annoying, especially when winter driving rolls around. Given the age, a cable or plug issue does sound plausible. Did you check the fuse for the mirror heating circuit? Sometimes it's the simplest thing. Also, are both mirrors affected or just one?

Thanks for the quick response! I did check the fuses, and they seem to be in good order. Also, I forgot to mention, both mirrors are affected, which made me lean towards a more general issue like a shared power supply or connection point. Do you have any other hints on where to check first?

Okay, both mirrors being out definitely points away from individual mirror issues. Since you've checked the fuses, I'd say it's time to get a multimeter out and start checking for voltage at the mirror connectors themselves. However, if you aren't comfortable with electrical testing, I'd honestly recommend taking it to a trusted workshop before you make things worse. For me, I would bring it to the workshop. Repair cost should be around 95€.

Thank you for the advice. I will take your recommendation and bring it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. It is probably best to leave the electrical work to the professionals. I will post the results here once it is resolved.
