Camaro Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Chevy Camaro owner experienced reduced engine power, poor response, stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and a whistling noise. The initial suspicion was a bad wastegate valve, pressure sensor, or throttle body. Another person suggested checking the MAP sensor for false readings affecting boost pressure. Ultimately, the issue was confirmed to be the wastegate valve, which was repaired, resolving the problem.

Interesting, thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the MAP sensor located, and is it easy to check? Is there a simple way to test it, or am I better off just replacing it? I'm trying to avoid going to a shop if I can.

The MAP sensor's location can vary slightly, but it's typically near the intake manifold. Given the symptoms, and my own experience, I'd recommend you take it to a reliable workshop to get it checked out and fixed correctly. It could be a more complex issue than just the MAP sensor.

Okay, appreciate the advice! I took it to a shop. Looks like my hunch was right, it was indeed the wastegate valve. Cost me 860€ to fix it, but at least the car runs like new again!

I had something similar happen with my Camaro. Check engine light, rough idling, and a strange hissing sound. Have you checked your MAP sensor? It could be giving you false readings and messing with the boost pressure. It might be worth looking at before you dive into the wastegate itself.
