Camry Fuel Injection Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Toyota Camry with low mileage is experiencing poor fuel efficiency, weak engine performance, stalling, and smoke under heavy acceleration, indicating a potential fuel injection issue. A possible cause is a defective connection in the fuel injection system, such as a loose or corroded cable or plug. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a professional to diagnose and repair the issue, which was confirmed to be a defective plug in the fuel injection system, resolved with a repair costing 95€.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly should I be looking for these connections? I'm not the most mechanically inclined, so a little more detail would be awesome.

Okay, so on my Astra, the connections were near the fuel injectors themselves, which are on top of the engine. But honestly, poking around without knowing what you're doing could make things worse. Given the stalling and smoke, and assuming a defective cable or plug connection is the root cause, I'd strongly recommend taking it to a workshop and get the fuel injection system checked professionally. You could end up causing more damage, and they should be able to diagnose it properly.

Appreciate the advice! I'll take it to a workshop. Turns out you were right on the money! It was a defective plug in the fuel injection, they charged me 95€ for the repair. Runs like a dream now!

Wow, those symptoms sound pretty rough! I actually had something similar happen with my old Opel Astra. Turned out to be a dodgy connection in the fuel injection system. Is it possible that a cable or plug connection of the component is defective? Maybe check the connections and see if anything looks loose or corroded?
