Camry Hybrid Lean Condition

I own a 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid with 53573 km. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed reduced engine power. It runs rough and jerks when I accelerate. I'm wondering if it’s running too lean. Could it be the spark plugs, mass air flow sensor, or a dirty throttle body? I even checked the intake manifold for leaks. I'm worried it could be the catalytic converter. Any advice?

Sounds like a lean condition. I had a similar issue with my old Ford Focus – not a hybrid, though. Reduced power and a rough idle. For me, it turned out to be a faulty fuel injector. They can become clogged or fail, leading to a lean mixture.

A fuel injector, huh? How did you figure out it was the injector specifically? Was it obvious, or did you have to do some testing? What kind of testing?

I had a mechanic diagnose it. They used a scan tool to read the engine codes, which pointed to a misfire and lean condition. Then, they did some further testing, like checking the fuel pressure and the injector pulse. Honestly, unless you have the tools and know-how, it's best to take it to a workshop.

I took it to my local mechanic, and you were spot on! It turned out to be a defective fuel injector. The repair cost me 515€, but at least it's running smoothly again. I really appreciate your insight!
