Camry Intake Air Temperature Sensor Issue

Alright Camry heads, I'm at my wit's end! My 2011 Toyota Camry with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. The check engine light is on, and it feels like I'm driving with half the horses under the hood. I hooked it up to a diagnostic tool, and it's throwing an error related to the intake air temperature sensor. The engine is running rough too! Anyone else experience this gremlin?

Sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen in my Camry (though it's a different year). Reduced power and a rough idle, plus that annoying check engine light. Was the error code specifically pointing to the intake air temperature sensor? These sensors can cause havoc if they're not reading the air temperature correctly. It messes with the fuel mixture. Have you checked the sensor itself for any obvious damage or loose connections?

Yeah, the diagnostic tool pinpointed the intake air temperature sensor. I gave the sensor a quick once-over, but didn't see anything obviously wrong. Where is the sensor located on your Camry? And did your diagnostic tool say the same thing?

The intake air temperature sensor on mine was near the air filter box, attached to the intake manifold. Yes, the diagnostic tool showed the same error. I'd say it's highly likely that your sensor is defective. While you could try replacing it yourself, it might be worth taking it to a workshop. They can confirm the diagnosis and replace the sensor.

Thanks for the help! It seems like the intake air temperature sensor is the culprit. I took it to my local mechanic and the diagnostic tool confirmed it. Replaced the sensor and now my engine is happy. It cost me 155€. All is well!
