Camry low oil pressure
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Toyota Camry owner experienced intermittent low oil pressure warnings and loud engine noises despite having a correct oil level and replacing the oil pressure sensor. Possible causes discussed included a clogged oil filter, incorrect oil type, or a failing oil pump. After checking the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and consulting a shop, the issue was identified as a failing oil pump, which was subsequently repaired.

Thanks. I haven't checked the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, just the dashboard light. I'm using the oil type the manual recommends. I'll check the oil pressure with a gauge. Did you ever find a fix for your Camry?

Yes, it was a failing oil pump. The low oil pressure and engine noises were a dead giveaway after I checked the sensor and oil. I'd suggest taking it to a shop to be sure, but it sounds like the oil pump. Driving with low oil pressure can cause serious engine damage, so don't wait too long.

Thanks! I took the car to a shop, and they said the oil pump was bad. The repair cost 755€. Your advice really helped me figure out what was wrong. I appreciate it.

I had a similar problem with my Camry. The low oil pressure light would come on, especially after the engine warmed up. I also thought it was the oil pressure sensor at first. Have you checked the actual oil pressure with a mechanical gauge? The sensor might be working, and the pressure really is low. What weight oil are you using? Light oil could cause low pressure, especially in an older engine.
