Caprice power window failure
Summary of the thread
After replacing the battery in a 2006 Chevy Caprice, the power windows stopped functioning, and an error was stored, preventing the initialization of the window regulator. The issue may be related to the car's electronics being disrupted by the battery change. Suggested solutions included checking the window motor, controls, and fuses, but ultimately, professional reprogramming of the window regulator was necessary to resolve the problem.

Thanks for the tip! I checked the fuses, and they seem fine. When you had the same problem, did you have to do anything special to reset the system, or did you just replace a part? I'm trying to avoid taking it to a mechanic if possible.

Yeah, I remember the frustration! I tried a bunch of resets and fiddled with the switch but nothing worked for me. Eventually, I caved and took it to a workshop. They said something about needing to reprogram the window regulator after the power loss. It's probably best to get it professionally checked since window controls can be tricky.

Just got the car back from the shop. You were right, they had to reprogram the window regulator. Cost me 290€, but at least the windows work again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

CAPRICE

I had something similar happen on my Caprice (don't remember the exact year). Replacing the battery can mess with the car's electronics. Did you try checking the window motor and the window controls themselves? Maybe also look at the window switch. Could be a fuse or a more involved car electronics problem.
