Captiva Engine Stalling
Summary of the thread
The 2023 Chevrolet Captiva is experiencing engine stalling at idle, with the check engine light indicating an issue. A potential cause could be a malfunctioning idle air control valve, possibly due to a dirty throttle body. Cleaning the throttle body might resolve the problem, but if unfamiliar with car maintenance, taking the vehicle to a workshop is recommended.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not very familiar with car parts... Where exactly is the throttle body located, and how would I go about cleaning it? Also, is that really a common problem?

It's located between the air filter and the intake manifold. Cleaning it yourself can be tricky if you're not confident, but there are guides online. And yes, it's a very common issue, especially if you do a lot of city driving. In my case, the intake was heavily contaminated, which caused the idle air control valve to malfunction. I ended up having to get a mechanic to fix it. Save yourself a headache and take it into the workshop. It cost me around 425€ in the end.

Okay, that's super helpful! Sounds like I'm better off taking it to a workshop. I'll mention the throttle body and idle air control valve when I get there. Thanks again for the advice!

CAPTIVA

Sounds like a frustrating situation. I had a similar issue with my Captiva, though I can't say for sure if it's the exact same problem. The stalling, especially at idle, points to air/fuel mixture issues. Check the throttle body! Is it clean? When they get gunked up air flow gets constricted. Think of it like a clogged artery in your car's engine.
