Captiva engine stalling at idle
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Chevrolet Captiva is experiencing engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and reduced engine power. The issue might be related to a bad fuel volume regulator, possibly due to a high-pressure fuel pump problem. A similar case was resolved by replacing the high-pressure fuel pump, and it is suggested to consult a mechanic for proper diagnosis and repair.

Fuel efficiency has definitely dropped. What exactly was the problem you had, and how did you fix it? Any tips on figuring it out or things to watch out for?

Yeah, mine was the high-pressure fuel pump. It was causing the fuel regulator to go haywire. I tried a few things, but honestly, I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic. They can properly diagnose it and save you a lot of headaches. I ended up having to shell out 1510€ for the repair.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a trip to the mechanic is in order. Your experience helps, and I'll probably start by checking the high-pressure pump since that's what you had. Thanks again.

Sounds familiar. I have a Captiva too, and I had similar issues last year. Rough idling and a loss of power. Have you checked the fuel efficiency lately? It might be affected as well.
