Captiva low oil pressure and engine noise
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Chevrolet Captiva is experiencing low oil pressure symptoms, indicated by a flickering oil pressure light and loud mechanical noises, despite normal oil levels. Possible causes include incorrect oil viscosity or a faulty sensor. However, a similar case suggests the issue might be more serious, potentially involving oil pump failure. It is advised to seek a professional diagnosis to prevent further damage.

Thanks. The last oil change was 8,000 km ago, using the grade specified in the handbook. Could this be a more serious issue?

In my case, the problem was more serious. All symptoms pointed to oil pump failure. I recommend taking your Captiva to a trusted workshop for a professional diagnosis to avoid any further damages. The repair ended up costing me around 755€.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I will schedule an appointment with a qualified mechanic to investigate the possibility of an oil pump defect. Your insight has been most helpful.

I had something similar with my Captiva. The oil pressure light flickering and strange engine noises are hard to ignore. Did you recently have an oil change, and if so, what type of oil was used?
