Captiva Tailgate Hall Sensor Fault

Hi, I have a 2009 Chevrolet Captiva, diesel engine, with 113410 km. The automatic tailgate system has a 'tailgate hall sensor fault,' and the tailgate stops halfway when opening. I suspect a defective cable or plug. Has anyone else had this electrical sensor issue? I'm considering sensor calibration but am worried about making it worse. Any insights regarding the sensor wiring would be great!

I had something similar on my old Opel. The tailgate wouldn't open properly and it turned out to be a dodgy connection. Have you checked the wiring harness where it goes from the body to the tailgate? That's where mine was damaged.

Thanks! Could you elaborate on 'dodgy connection?' Was it visibly damaged, or did you discover it through testing? And by 'wiring harness,' do you mean the main bundle leading to the automatic tailgate mechanism?

It was the main bundle, yeah. I could see some cracking in the insulation where it flexed every time the tailgate opened. I took it to a workshop. Best to get it sorted professionally, I think.

Thanks! It seems a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. Addressing the sensor wiring myself is daunting. I've received a quote for about 95€, which is preferable to a bigger problem. I will tell them about the potential cable issue. Thanks again!
