Captiva Transfer Case Limp Mode
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Chevy Captiva experienced transfer case limp mode with gearbox slipping, suspected to be caused by ABS module issues. Another owner suggested checking for torque converter problems and fault codes in the control module. Ultimately, the issue resolved itself, possibly triggered by low voltage or high temperature conditions.

Torque converter... Okay, noted. Did yours also throw codes related to the gear selector or just the transfer case?

Yeah, gear selector codes too. Honestly, best bet is to get it on a proper diagnostic machine at a workshop. Could be a simple fix or a cascading failure.

Turns out it was a ghost in the machine. No cost to repair, after a bit of time, the issue disappeared, it might have been triggered by a low voltage or high temperature condition.

CAPTIVA

I've got a Captiva and had similar symptoms. Could be torque converter issues? Check the control module for fault codes too.
