Thanks. I haven't checked the refrigerant pressure sensor or A/C compressor relay yet. Can you tell me where the relay switch is, and how to test it?

Sure thing! On my Astra, the A/C relay was in the main fuse box under the hood. Check your owner's manual for the exact location on the Captur. You can test it by swapping it with a known good relay (like the horn relay, for example – just make sure they're the same type!). If the A/C suddenly works, then the relay is your problem. But honestly, with those symptoms and the mileage, it might be worth getting a professional A/C system diagnosis. Could be a deeper issue.

Thanks for the advice about the relay switch. Given the age of the car, I'll see a technician. Just so you know, replacing the A/C compressor fixed it. The repair cost 240€.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar A/C compressor shut off issue with my old 2012 Opel Astra. Turned out to be a flaky relay switch. The ECU was throwing codes about low voltage to the compressor clutch. Have you checked the refrigerant pressure sensor or the A/C compressor relay? Could also be a belt tensioner issue if the belt is slipping. Any hissing sounds indicating a refrigerant leak?
