No unusual noises. Where exactly is the AC relay located in this model? And the fuse?

The relay's usually in the engine compartment fuse box, often marked with an AC symbol. But honestly, if it's not a simple fuse, and you suspect valve problems, it's probably best to get it checked by a workshop. AC systems are complex.

Workshop confirmed valve defect. Repair cost: 1000€. Not ideal, but at least it's sorted.

Could be a refrigerant leak, which is quite common. Or maybe a faulty AC relay that's a cheap fix. Any unusual noises from the AC compressor when you try to switch it on? The compressor circulates the refrigerant. Have you checked the AC fuse?
