Yes, the idle is a bit rough, now that you mention it. By 'emissions issues', do you mean a simple sensor problem, or something that could damage the engine? Also, what kind of leak are we talking about?

Well, if the crankcase ventilation isn't working right, pressure can build up and gases might leak where they shouldn't, and that impacts emissions. Also, that pressure buildup can definitely cause damage down the line if ignored. Given the smoke, reduced power, and now you're mentioning a rough idle, the defective crankcase ventilation becomes ever more likely. I really think your best bet is to get it professionally diagnosed by a workshop – hopefully it's a straightforward fix!

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop as suggested, and it was indeed the crankcase ventilation valve causing the problem. The repair cost me 360€. Everything seems to be running smoothly again.

Oh my goodness, a check engine light AND smoke? That sounds serious! Is the engine idling rough too? It could be anything really but a faulty crankcase ventilation valve could cause emissions issues and lead to a leak. I’d get it checked soonest!
