Captur diesel engine losing power
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Renault Captur diesel is experiencing power loss, sluggish acceleration, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The issue is suspected to be related to a boost pressure control fault. A faulty vacuum switching valve, which affects the turbo, is identified as the cause. Replacing the valve resolves the problem, restoring the car's performance.

A vacuum switching valve, eh? Where is that located, and how would I even check if that's the problem? Is it easy to change? And how can I check the pressure sensor? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm lost here!

It controls the bypass valve. Honestly, unless you're comfortable working on cars, I'd take it to a workshop. Diagnosing turbo issues can be tricky and you'll need to use diagnostic tools to pinpoint it exactly. It could be that valve, but it could also be something else in the boost control system.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on – it was indeed a faulty vacuum switching valve. They replaced it, and the car is running like new again. Cost me around 140€. I really appreciate your help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old BMW 320d. Turned out to be a faulty vacuum switching valve. That can really mess with the turbo. Is the pressure sensor OK?
