Captur electrical errors

I'm freaking out. My 2023 Renault Captur, hybrid engine, just hit 206852 km. The dashboard throws random errors, the electricals glitch, and the navigation is dead. The error memory is full. I think it might be a software issue… Anyone else had anything similar happen?

Whoa, that sounds rough! Faulty vehicle software can be a real pain. When you say error memory is full, have you tried clearing the codes? Sometimes that helps, even temporarily. Has the car had any recent software installed? Maybe something went wrong during the install. Could it be related to a dead or dying car battery?

I did try clearing the error codes, but they just come right back. Super frustrating! There was a software install a while ago, but everything seemed fine then. I have not checked the car battery though, I will do that tomorrow. If the car battery is not the problem, what else could it be?

If the battery is fine, clearing the codes doesn't work, and you suspect the software install… It does sound like a corrupted control unit programming, pretty implausible though. I'd recommend taking it to a trusted repair shop. They can recalibrate the system or reflash the software. Seems that these systems can be really sensitive. Hopefully, it is not an expensive fix...

Thanks! I think I will take it to the shop, as you suggested. They checked it and you were right – the control unit programming was implausible. They're quoting around 240€ for recalibration. Hopefully, this will fix all those electrical gremlins!
