Captur Fault Memory Lock Active Error
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Renault Captur diesel exhibited a 'fault memory lock active' error, with a diagnostic scan indicating undervoltage as the potential cause. This error typically occurs when the ECU locks an error to prevent clearing until the underlying issue is resolved. Although no other electrical issues were observed, the problem was traced back to an undervoltage condition. The suggested solution involved visiting a qualified technician for a thorough diagnostic assessment, which confirmed the undervoltage as the root cause, leading to necessary repairs.

No, I didn't observe any other electrical anomalies, such as diminished light intensity or sluggish engine commencement, before the fault manifested.

Right, in my case, the undervoltage issue was very subtle and I did not notice anything peculiar either. However, that eventually led to an error log which had to be reset at a workshop. I had to replace the battery, and then the ECU fault could be removed and locked. Consider a visit to a qualified technician for a thorough diagnostic assessment. It will allow pinpointing the exact source of the undervoltage.

I have since taken the vehicle to a workshop. As suspected, the undervoltage was the root cause of the issue. The repairs, including diagnostics, cost 240€.

I had something similar on my Captur. The 'fault memory lock active' refers to the ECU locking the error to prevent clearing until the problem is addressed. Undervoltage can trigger this. Were you experiencing other electrical issues, like dimming lights or slow starting, before the error?
