Captur Outside Temperature Sensor Fault

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2023 Renault Captur Hybrid. The outside temperature sensor seems to be faulty. I'm getting an error stored in the memory. The air conditioning won't switch on, the spray nozzles are frozen even when it's not that cold, and the mirror heating isn't working. The car has 105972 km on it. Has anyone experienced similar issues? I suspect it's a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor, but I'd like a second opinion before I start tearing things apart.

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Renault Captur Hybrid experienced issues with the outside temperature sensor, leading to air conditioning failure, frozen spray nozzles, and non-functional mirror heating. The problem was suspected to be a defective cable or plug connection. After confirming the issue through error codes and symptoms, it was advised to check for corrosion or damage in the sensor's connector. The issue was resolved at a workshop by replacing a corroded connector, restoring all functions.

The symptoms you describe certainly point towards a faulty outside temperature sensor or its wiring. The air conditioning system relies on that sensor to function correctly, and the frozen spray nozzles and non-functional mirror heating also align with this issue. Have you checked the sensor's connector for any signs of corrosion or damage? Also, have you tried clearing the error code to see if it returns immediately?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the connector specifically for corrosion yet, but I did visually inspect it and it seemed okay. As for clearing the code, yes, it comes back almost instantly. Is there a specific pin on the connector I should be paying extra attention to, or perhaps a common failure point in the wiring harness?

Given that the code returns immediately and you're seeing multiple related system failures, it strongly suggests a short or open circuit. While a visual inspection is good, corrosion can be subtle. Focus on the connector pins themselves; sometimes, they can become slightly bent or push back into the connector housing, preventing a solid connection. Given the nature of the fault and your troubleshooting steps so far, it would be best to visit a professional workshop.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions! I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a corroded connector, just as we suspected. The total repair cost was 95€, including a new connector and labor. Everything is working perfectly now.
