Captur Temperature Gauge and AC Issues

Hey! I'm having trouble with my 2020 Renault Captur hybrid. The temperature gauge is acting up, I'm getting an error on the speedometer, and the AC won't turn on. The scanner says it's a defective temperature sensor in the heat exchanger. Has anyone seen this before? I'm at 54360 km.

Whoa, sounds rough! A defective temperature sensor could definitely be the culprit for your AC. The system probably shuts down to prevent damage if it's getting bad readings. When you say 'temperature gauge acting wonky,' what exactly are you seeing? Is it spiking, dropping to zero, or just generally fluctuating randomly? Also, did the error code point specifically to the sensor itself, or did it suggest anything else might be involved?

Thanks for the quick reply! The gauge seems to jump around a bit, not smooth like it used to be. Sometimes it reads normal, other times it's way higher or lower than it should be. The error code was pretty specific: 'Temperature sensor heat exchanger defective.' Could it be something else even with that specific code?

Okay, the fluctuating gauge and specific error code do point pretty strongly to that sensor being the issue. While it's possible there's a wiring problem causing a false reading, it's less likely given the symptoms. Honestly, with a hybrid system, things can get complicated quickly, especially with the cooling. It might be a faulty air conditioning control unit, that's a thing. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a workshop. They can properly diagnose the sensor and rule out any other underlying problems before you start replacing parts. If it is the control unit it could cost you around 980€.

Thanks a bunch! I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but I figured it was probably best to get it to a professional. I appreciate the insight! I took it to the shop and you were right. Turns out it was a faulty air conditioning control unit. Thanks again for the help!
