Captur transmission slipping
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Renault Captur with a gasoline engine is experiencing transmission issues, including slipping, unclean shifts, and grinding noises, accompanied by check engine and transmission indicator lights. The error memory suggests a defect in the automatic transmission converter, likely indicating a torque converter failure. The problem is confirmed by similar experiences from others, and it is advised to have the vehicle checked at a reputable workshop to prevent further damage.

Yes, there is an engine surge. RPMs fluctuate erratically when attempting to maintain speed at approximately 110 km/h. Is this consistent with your experience?

Yep, pretty much exactly what happened to me. Sadly, it does sound like the torque converter. Bite the bullet and get it checked out at a reputable workshop before it causes more damage. Don't delay; these things only get worse, and you don't want to risk being stranded.

Based on your experience and the workshop's diagnostic, the torque converter was indeed defective, leading to a repair cost of 2120€. Thanks for confirming the likely cause; it helped me prepare for the diagnosis.

CAPTUR

Hey, that sounds rough. I had something similar happen with my Captur. Check engine light, slipping... it was a nightmare. Any surging when you're trying to accelerate at highway speeds? How are the revs behaving when this happens?
