Caravan diesel engine cylinder pressure fluctuation
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Nissan Caravan with a diesel engine is experiencing fluctuating cylinder pressure, increased fuel consumption, reduced power, and an illuminated check engine light. Possible causes include issues with the timing belt, intake manifold, or turbocharger. Another suggestion points to a potential head gasket problem, which could lead to engine knocking. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a trusted workshop to prevent further damage, which resulted in an easy and cost-free repair.

Engine knocking, huh? I haven't noticed anything obvious, but I'll listen more closely tomorrow. Head gasket... that sounds expensive. Was the repair costly for you?

Yeah, listen carefully. And it's hard to be sure without inspecting. I was worried it was going to bankrupt me! I'd definitely take it to a trusted workshop and let them have a proper look. Don't delay, the error might lead to catastrophic failure.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop and it was indeed a error already known to them. It was an easy fix for them, the repair cost was 0€!

I had something similar with my Caravan (diesel too). Check for any engine knocking. I suspect it's a consequential error resulting from another error. Does it sound like that? High chance it is the head gasket.
