Cavalier Battery Draining
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Chevrolet Cavalier with 153,559 km is experiencing battery drainage, weak and flickering lights, and a low voltage error message. The issue may be caused by a defective battery sensor, especially since the battery terminals are clean and tight. The suggested solution is to have the battery sensor checked and possibly replaced, which resolved the problem when done by a workshop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I do mostly shorter trips, yeah. How can I load test the battery to be sure? Is that something I can do myself, or do I need special equipment?

Load testing needs a special tester, though some auto parts stores will do it for free. But with all those symptoms and the short trips, plus that error code, I'm betting your battery sensor is the culprit. It's like a leaky faucet – slowly but surely draining everything. Best bet is to get it checked out by a workshop.

Just got the car back. You were spot on! Took it to the shop, and they confirmed the battery sensor was defective. They replaced it, and the problem is gone. Total cost was 315€ Thanks a lot for your help!

Sounds like a classic case of electrical gremlins! Is the car mostly doing short trips? That could prevent the battery from fully charging. Have you tried load testing the battery itself? Sometimes a battery can appear fine but internally be toast – like a cracked egg that still looks perfect on the outside.
