Cavalier central locking malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier is experiencing a central locking malfunction, with the keyless entry not working and an error code present. The issue might be due to a faulty cable or plug, possibly within the wiring harness that runs between the door and the car body, which can break from constant flexing. Checking the wiring harness inside the rubber boot and inspecting for broken wires is suggested, but ultimately, taking the car to a shop for professional repair is recommended.

Thanks, I'll check the harness. Fuses are good. Can you tell me exactly where that wiring harness is? And are some wires more likely to fail than others?

Yeah, I mean the harness that runs between the door and the car body, inside that rubber boot. As for specific wires, it's hard to say, but usually, it's the ones that are constantly being bent when the door opens and closes. Honestly, after messing with it for a while, I just gave up and took it to the shop. Best decision I made.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to take it to a shop. Got an estimate of 95€ for the repair. Appreciate the help.

I had a similar problem with my Cavalier. Check the wiring harness where it passes from the body to the door. Those wires flex every time you open and close the door, and they can break. It might not be obvious, so inspect carefully. Did you happen to check the fuses related to the central locking system?
