Cavalier engine misfires

Hey, I've got a 2004 Chevy Cavalier with a gasoline engine that's giving me headaches. It's got about 71000 km on it. I'm getting combustion misfires. The engine runs really rough, and the check engine light is on. When I try to speed up, it jerks, and it feels like I don't have as much power as I should. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms in my Cavalier. Rough idle, check engine light... was your throttle response also bad? Have you checked your spark plugs yet? Could be a simple fix.

Throttle response is definitely not great. Spark plugs looked ok when I checked them, but I didn't replace them. What was the cause in your case?

Yeah, the bad throttle response confirms it, sounds like what I had. I thought it was the plugs at first too, but replacing them didn't solve anything. In the end, it turned out to be a defective fuel injector. You might want to get it checked out by a workshop.
