Cavalier Loss of Power

My 2001 Chevy Cavalier with a gasoline engine is acting up. It's got 143999 km on it. The check engine light is on, and the engine power is way down. Feels like it's stuck in limp mode. Thinking it might be the throttle valve. Anyone seen this before?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, though it was a diesel. Check engine light, loss of power, the whole deal. Have you checked the accelerator pedal module? I read that a defective module or the electronics inside could cause that.

Well, on the Astra, it ended up being the problem. It's like when a dimmer switch goes bad, and your lights are all wonky. My mechanic ran some diagnostics and found a fault code related to the accelerator pedal position sensor. I'd suggest getting it checked out at a workshop.
