Cavalier solar sensor fault low heat
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier is experiencing low heating output, with a diagnostic system indicating a solar sensor fault. The initial suspicion is a faulty cable or connector. Despite checking the sensor signal, the issue persists, suggesting the need for a thorough evaluation by a workshop to identify and resolve the problem.

Thanks. I checked the sensor signal with an oscilloscope, and it seemed okay. Can you tell me the Saab model and the symptoms you saw?

It was a 2008 Saab 9-3. Even though the signal looked normal, the problem wasn't fixed until I replaced the sensor. Since you checked the connections and the signal looks good, a workshop should do a more thorough check before you troubleshoot further. It cost me more than 95€ because of the work I did before.

Thanks for the info. Based on what you said and the data I have, I'll get a workshop to do a full system evaluation.

I had similar issues on an older Saab, not a Cavalier. The climate control was erratic, like your heating. The error code also pointed to the sensor circuit. Have you tested the sensor itself, or just the connections?
