Interesting. I haven't focused on the cable connections yet. Which control unit cable specifically caused your issue?

After a lot of diagnostics, the mechanic found the cable connection to the main ECU defective. It was impacting the whole BUS communication, causing all sorts of weirdness. I'd recommend getting it scanned with a proper tool, but honestly, it might be worth taking it to a trusted workshop. It ended up costing me around 155€ to fix.

Appreciate the insight. I'll have the cable connections checked, and if that doesn't solve it, I'll take it to a shop. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Turns out it was a loose connection, as suggested. All fixed!

Wow, that sounds incredibly frustrating! I had a similar issue with my Cavalier, although the symptoms weren't quite as widespread. Did you check the cable connections to the control units, especially the BUS system connection? That was my problem.
