Cayman Window Glitch: Common Regulator Learning Issue Fix?

Fault stored

Power windows malfunction

Hey everyone, having issues with my 2016 Cayman's power windows. The system's showing a stored fault and I suspect it's related to a failed window regulator learning process. Has anyone dealt with this specific problem? Would love to hear about your repair experiences and what the fix was at your shop. Thanks!

I've got some experience with cars, and I had a similar issue with my 2018 Porsche Boxster last year. The window regulator caused me headaches too! First thought it was just the window mechanism, but turned out my battery was actually dying, which messed with all the electrical systems, including the windows. My local Porsche workshop diagnosed it and replaced the battery, cost me around 290€. Everything worked perfectly after that, windows, central locking, all of it. Sometimes these electrical gremlins can be traced back to a weak battery. What's the battery age in your Cayman? And are you noticing any other electrical issues? Would help to know if your car's showing other symptoms to better pinpoint if it's a similar case. Note: Also owned a 911 before, and these electrical quirks are sometimes common in Porsches when the battery starts getting weak.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! My Cayman's at 56686 KM and just had its service last month. You know what, I'm actually experiencing some similar symptoms, noticed the central locking's been a bit funky lately too. My battery's the original one from 2016, so you might be onto something there. Guess it's probably time to get it checked out. Really appreciate the heads up about the battery connection, wasn't even considering that as the culprit!

Hey there again! Thanks for the update on your Cayman. You know what? Those symptoms you're describing are exactly what I experienced with my Boxster, especially that funky central locking behavior! When you mentioned the original 2016 battery, that really rang a bell. I can't stress enough how my whole experience with those weird electrical issues just vanished after the battery replacement. These Porsches are pretty sensitive to battery voltage fluctuations, and a 7-year-old original battery is definitely getting up there in age. Quick tip from my experience: If you're heading to get it checked, try to go to a Porsche specialist if you can. When I had mine done, they also reprogrammed some modules after the battery swap, which apparently is pretty important for these cars. The whole window regulator learning process went smooth as butter after that. Keep us posted on what you find out! Really curious to see if it's the same battery issue as mine. These cars are fantastic but they sure do have their quirks with the electrical systems, don't they?

Thanks so much for all the detailed advice! You've definitely convinced me about the battery being the likely culprit. I've actually just booked an appointment with my local Porsche specialist for next week, figured it's better to get it sorted sooner rather than later. Really glad you mentioned that bit about reprogramming the modules too, I'll make sure to bring that up with them. It's funny how something as simple as a battery can cause so many weird issues, isn't it? Will definitely update you once I get it checked out. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's been super helpful!
